Events and the Kula Net Web Scheduler

When you create a workshop or event, if you wish to have it appear in the "upcoming workshops and events" section of your web scheduler, you must create the proper event product. Only events with associated products will appear in this area on your main calendar page.

The Kula Net "Workshops and Events" Page - Details

As you enter your workshop or event in the "new appointment" window, after you have created your event product, you might notice some new fields toward the bottom of the window.  They include short description, long description, and photo

On the main calendar page, the date, cost, and title of the workshop will appear, as will your short description, which appears below the title.  See the top photo on this page; "Use Mantra to change your life" as it appears in the top picture is the short description for that workshop.

When students click on the title of the workshop, they are taken to the event detail page.  Here is where your long description and photo appear.

In the example above, the long description appears on the right side of the screen, under "description."  The photo that I have pasted into Dharma Tribe appears in the center of the page.  On the left hand side of the screen, the workshop details appear, including an add to cart button so students can buy the workshop product and be enrolled onto the workshop roster automatically.

If you don't have your photos and descriptions ready when you add a workshop to Dharma Tribe for the first time, don't panic:  you can add them later by going to the event on the calendar and clicking the instructor's name to get to the "add students screen."  Instead of staying on the front "add students" tab, we'll navigate to the "web" tab, where you'll find space for your short description, long description, and photo.

Multiple Day Workshops with different pricing options

If the above "Pranayam Workshop" had been a "Pranayam Weekend" instead, and if I want students to be able to attend on "Friday only" or "Saturday only" or the "whole weekend" (e.g. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), I wouldn't drastically change what I'm doing in Dharma Tribe.  You may decide that you want people to automatically enroll in all these possible scenarios and be able to do so online through Kula Net.  If so, create two calendar items (events)for Friday, as if you're creating two workshops.  Name the first one something like "WHOLE WEEKEND - Pranayam."  You may add this to the calendar for Friday only, but know that it will create a roster of people who are attending all three days.  Now create the second calendar item, and call it "FRIDAY ONLY - Pranayam."  Now move on to Saturday on your calendar and create your third calendar item and call it "SATURDAY ONLY - Pranayam."  I'd use the same photo and descriptions for each one, just to keep things simple.  In this way, you will be able to have three different pricing structures (or as many as you want to create) and three different enrollment options.  All three will display on your calendar under workshops.  Know that you will end up with a separate roster for each attendance option.  This will enable you to sell various workshop attendance options at various prices online, all with auto-enrollment onto your rosters.

Free or Donation-Based Events with Kula Net

If you wish to create a "free" event, or a donation-based event that displays on Kula Net, you may create your event--see the "workshop test" example above--and you may leave the price blank.  However, students will not be able enroll into free events online because they will not be able to actually "purchase" this event online without putting another item with a price into the shopping cart along with the "free" event product.
